Discretion/Anonymity
« on: 05 May 2016, 01:38:45 am »
Just been reading about the whole Helen Wood debacle and her wanting to out a celebrity client but being gagged by the courts and how unfair she finds it.

Personally for me I think that as Working Girls we offer our clients discretion no matter who they are, I mean I always understand that most of us prefer to remain anonymous surely we owe our clients the same.

I think anybody who sells a story to the media is doing it for the fame and the few silver coins they might get for it it has nothing to do with exposing hypocracy.

Am I wrong?

No, you are absolutely right. Some girls do it and it gives us all a bad name. It's all done in confidence and should remain so unless some kind of serious crime has been committed.

One girl I know recently had the son of a regular client book her and she did the booking, but then told the father next time she saw him. Which I think is totally ridiculous and unacceptable.

Totally agree with you FB. We expect discretion and should afford our clients the same privilege. Sadly not all workers and clients are the same though, which is a pity. 😢 The effects on the person who is outed could be insurmountable.

It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

She was outed by her girlfriend and her name came out on the press, then she thought "if someone is going to make money out of this it might as well be me". That's when she started to "talk". And I totally understand that, meaning, if your real name gets thrown out there, you get outed, and everyone starts making money from YOUR story you need to grab it and own it, specially if you're going the "reality show-TV/personality" career route.

but she has made more than enough money from being outed for the threesome without having to throw this celebrity under the bus, she has appeared in numerous reality shows and selling her side of the story to the newspapers.  This last grasp is just deplorable in my opinion. And I doubt she is going to make a genuine television career especially considering how she got to where she wants to go.

Really don't think that's any of our business. Can be found elsewhere if really necessary.

Can we keep this a general discussion as per the thread title folks, please? :)

I have no idea who or what this is about, but SAAFE isn't the place for discussion of individuals (who for all we know may be reading or even members here) and their personal choices, nor will it descend into a gossipy bitchfest. The gutter press and car crash TV companies do more than enough of that without us joining in.

The problem is that the media - once they have hold of a story - will publish it anyway. Might not be today, or next week, but at some  time in the future they plan to make money out of it at a time that suits them/their agenda, whether or not any party gives their side of the story. The proof of that is in this recent "scandal" - the press have known about it for 6 years (apparantly), why only now do they want to publish? Because it will make them money.

We can be as discreet as we can and provide an anon service, but it just takes one "well-known" to be papped or spotted or 'linked to' etc and the paper have their little nugget to run with.

I think it's easy to blame the press, but their job is to sell papers and make as much money as possible, after all. If all the slack-jawed cabbages who lap this shite up stopped buying it, it wouldn't make them money and they'd have to print something else.

Deep down we don't know the real story, all we know is that some pap catched them together and the other person managed to get a court injuction and she didn't. Why? Who? When? we don't know and most probably will never know because it's not in the press best interest for people to know the real deal otherwise we would stop buying magazines. Remember a the Sun scandal when the trial and all the shite that came out?: the phone hacking scandal to terrorism vctims, etc..Police were involved, the comissioner of London resigned, Tony Blair was canoodling with Murdochs wife etc... i find all the stuff that was going on way more obscene than an escort sleeping with a celebrity in exchange of money.

I agree!! I haven't bought a paper for about 20 years, maybe longer. A friend of mine recently asked if I had "today's" copy of a certain tabloid, I replied "no, I prefer my usual toilet paper cos it's softer". :D

If any of us end up in the media for anything... Even if we're killed in a terrorist attack or something utterly blameless... You can expect your aw profile and any online reviews to be published.
