Keeping old rates for regular after increase - how long?
« on: 02 September 2014, 05:30:21 am »
I'm going to implement an increase in my rates and for regulars, I'll be grandfathering the old rates they enjoy. At the moment, I'm not sure how long I'll extend the lower rates. The last time I increased my rate, I did it across the board where everyone paid my new rates. So I'm a little stuck at how I'll be handling this new change.

Any ideas? And what is your experience like if you've kept old prices for regulars after an increase?

I've just kept them at the old rates for as long as they keep coming back regularly. If they take a break of more than say three or four months then they get the new rates when they come back.

I've just changed my rates and this is exactly what I'll be doing. Unless they see I've changed my rates and give me the new one anyway.

Do you tell regulars that the rate is contingent on them coming to see you regularly?

I think what I'll do is for the ones I've seen in the last month I'll keep the old rate. If I saw them before that and they want to book then I'll tell them the rate has changed. Going forward they'll need to see me within the same month to keep the rate. Any longer and they'll have to pay my new rate.

Good idea. You want to keep your regulars happy; however you may want to think of telling them that you will 'hold' their rate for say, 3 months, then after that the rate will increase.

I don't what you do obviously, but with my regulars I don't clock watch so they get extra time. This keeps them really sweet plus I'm enjoying myself anyway so I don't mind.

For example, rate-wise, I recently changed my 90 minute rate from 150 to 170 and no one has complained.

In saying that, I would rather have a regular client at a lower rate than not have him at all. I find that gents don't really mind. Another one of my regulars got an 'introductory' rate from me and I told him the next time it would be extra and he did not mind at all.

I think it all boils down to the relationship you have with clients. I see no harm in having different rates for different gents where you know you have a guaranteed income.

hi think that to if you have regular we see loads and i do out call and they pay hotel as well it mounts up to quite allot of cash  then i think its ok for you to have a special rate obviously this is if you agree and its not them trying it on to get freebies or something

Yeah I think this is a good plan, I've just put my rates up and I'm doing exactly this.  Also for new clients that had booked before I updated the rates on my profile (as in all the discussions have been done, all checked out and I've got their AW booking request), I'm seeing them at the rate they booked at.

I had a new client who made a booking on Saturday for Monday (when I raised my rates). I was expecting my old rate but he brought the new one, so I said nothing!

So for how long would you keep your regulars at the old rate? :)

I after moving to a new area where I had to put rates up due to an increase in rent etc. I let my old clients who could travel stay on my old rates but after a year of being here they have died off. I have plenty of new clients who are willing to pay the rate more competitive to the area.
