Blather and Babble / Re: the term prostitute?
« Last Post by Karena on Today at 05:45:45 pm »
Sorry to come back to this but I think it's important that people know.

I was worried about this DBS thing and so was my friend who's reported a robber in the past who attacked her whilst working (he was caught, publicly named and shamed, and prosecuted). She contacted the police who were in charge of her case and they have assured her - and also contacted the DBS department for clarification -  that no mention of sex work would ever be disclosed on a DBS certificate if a person has reported a crime against them.  It's only the person's convictions that go on the DBS certificate, and no mention of escort work should ever be included.

The officer in charge of my friend's case says (And I've read the email myself) that under no way, shape or form would a victim of any offence have this disclosed as part of DBS checks.

It's good that the DBS comes to you first so you can double check before it goes anywhere else - and if the sex work thing ever did come up on it, then you should be able to get it removed.

If it stays like this would a lot of you have to look for alternative income? I’m thinking I’ll give it 6 more weeks and will then have to look for at least a part time job to ensure I can always pay my bills each month. When I first started doing this back in 2006 I would have 8 bookings per day easily if I wanted them

I agree Lucia it’s the boredom that drives me mad! I’m currently in a hotel, had a slow day yesterday although it was better than staying home to work but my god was I bored out of my mind. I think the days where we flicked our green light on and the phone didn’t stop ringing, could have been back to back all day are long gone. I do have the odd day like that but it’s very far a few between. Luckily I have a good amount of long term regulars that keep me ticking over.
I am thinking about doing something else part time, 1) for the consistent income 2) to help the boredom!

I definitely noticed a dip around this time last year but still was getting an average of 3 bookings a day and before that I was quite literally booked up 1-2 weeks in advance it was hard for people to get a booking with me especially for same day appointments, but now! I’m having days where I get nothing at all, I’m earning less than half of my earnings a week and even to get 2x 1 hour appointments would be a good day for me now whereas before that would be a very rubbish day. I don’t see the industry getting back to its old ways again and the shift is our new norm now. I hope we can all get used to the change, I think it’s the boredom and loneliness now that drives me more insane than anything

Same here.
Shocked by how quiet it has been.
Reassessing life choices!
I have a few booking for the future - but that is normal for me to have bookings in advance.

They still might cancel.
I remember when they never used to cancel.

Questions and Answers / Re: Urgent help required

As Amy said - if it were me with no place to work from and in need of money urgently I'd phone around "massage parlours" in my area to see if they need anyone.
Any place that advertises lots of girls or different girls each day of the week - that's a brothel and they might need someone. Your take per client will be low but it will be instant with no outgoings. You should definitely earn something that day.

There might be a clothing requirement. Just do your best and they might let you work in whatever you have or --- for example -- I worked in places where a massage uniform of a certain colour was required. But many girls would turn up without the right clothes and often someone had a spare.

I tried Vivastreet, and I am really puzzled how on earth those, who have experience with adultwork, can work on Vivastreet? On aw people write polite messages and book in advance. On VS people call at night and want an Outcall 'now'. I think there's no life outside AW...

No I wasn’t saying to actually go to the police and report it as rape, I agree it would be pointless. However the message may have made him think twice, or maybe not.

No offence committed?? It’s definitely an offence to agree to see a swx worker, have sex and then not pay!

Just like it’s an offence to remove a condom. It’s an offence because the consented sex was on the basis of using a condom. Removing a condom without permission is an offence. The same as non payment. However you want to look at it is up to you. It’s a grey area. But there’s ‘experts’ and even courts in Australia that absolutely consider non payment as rape.

In some jurisdictions, courts have found that when a person cons a sex worker – refuses or evades the agreed payment for sex – such acts constitute rape, because consent for the sexual act was obtained fraudulently.[i/]
