Photographer wants to know my fee

I've been emailed on AW by a photographer who is building up his portfolio and wants to do some tasteful shoots. He wants to know how much I would charge for this.

I have no idea what to say!

I thought it was going to be another one of those 'let me do something for you so I can get a free service,' type emails. But he wants to pay me. Or so he says.

My thoughts are charge whatever you want to charge for your time, it's up to you. If you are busy then charge your usual Escort rate, if you want to charge less, charge less.

But bear in mind that you lose control over the images, and they may still be ghosting around the internet long after you've decided to retire and pull your profile.

AW is an odd place for a legit photographer to go looking for models especially the type building their portfolio which are often students. Why does he need to hire an escort for this? Does he have a website and can he give legit references? Personally I'd be extremely wary especially if you don't like to show your face on an escort profile. For any legit modelling job no matter how simple you should also sign a release form and you'd need to use your real name. He could also use the photos how he wants and you'd have no control over that.

I would echo what TrashAzn says.There are plenty of legit sites for photographers and models such as purestorm etc where students and photographers can practice for time for print etc on people that are actual models and want to build their own portfolio.So why is he on an escort site looking for people to practice on?I'd charge him the same as my escort rates after all that is what you are on there for and the time he is wanting is the same time that punters could buy from you.He is either very naive or the tasteful shots he is saying he wants is bullshit.

Photographer's that contact us in this way are often chancers, have little photography knowledge, fantasists etc.  Exercise caution. I agree with everything the others have said.  If I wanted a photographer I would be searching myself and getting reccommendations if possible

I responded initially but I got a very strong feeling that he was just a time waster from his response. So blocked and ignored 😊

Well we are all porn stars aren't we  girls are charging 20 quid an hour for full on nude, last I heard, so he's definitely got hidden agendas. Most likely to flop his dick out half way through the shoot. Good idea to ignore these types of inquiries unless you offer photos.

Or as I said many actual wannabe models on purestorm and netmodel etc that would pose for nonnude pictures for 'time for print' so for free basically.He's not a photographer he is a bloke with a camera wanting a thrill.

OK, I know I am dumb but if the guy wants to hire you then what is the problem, weather he is a pro, armature as long as you get paid does it matter???

He'll give you his fee ( if your lucky ) and sell them or he could be working to get some more intimate pics to add to someone's private gallery ! Just a thought I wouldn't let anyone knowingly near me with a camera unless I'd either paid them and be dubious then or it was on my own equipment done by a friend /partner x
