So I got an email response to one of my ads tonight asking for details.  When I responded with rates, he e-mailed back 'ow you're a hooker.  Not into hookers sorry'.

OK, so we can say he's a cheeky beggar, what did he expect and so on, but the truth is it stung me a bit when I read that.

Why is that?

This reminds me of when I had someone ages ago make a booking then later at the time of confirmation he sent a text saying he wouldn't be coming after all as he doesn't like prostitutes. I sent a text saying well you obviously need them. He didn't respond, I saved his nmbr, that's that. Your one obviously needs them too, like those who browse escort sites tend to! and he's probably embarrassed by it so like has been said, he wants to try to make you feel bad. Just another odd knob.
