This thread has been an interesting read! As a part time escort who is relatively new to this, and a student as well, I have found myself declining clients who even *comment* on my price sometimes because I get a bad feeling about it. If I am expensive it's because I am nothing like your average ?30 a go street rentboy. If that's how much they want to pay, they can fucking well go and cruise the local cottage and find themself some skinny little 17 year old heroin addict.

Exactly - if they think they can get the same quality for less, they are welcome to try.

What I meant was, I hear on punter forums about men calling escorts who dont have their rate advertised. It may say 'varies' or 'ask'. Well when the punter ask 'how much' the escort gives an above market price and the client declines. Many if not all of the clients do not go forward with meeting him even if he counteroffers a lower rate. They feel they'd be 'getting less' than what the escort normal offers.

Thats just mad, i couldnt be doing with that.  but would the reason for not advertising the rate be because of the law again? I suppose if you show your rates its one thing to go against you if you get caught.  what happens if you get caught joey?  is it jail or fines or community service?  how serious do they really take it?  Like, do they go out looking for you all or do they just concentrate mostly on street prostitution?

I hate this too - even just the comments that Benny mentions; I find it incredibly tacky to discuss and dissect earnings and I would certainly never do it with my accountant, for example - my fees are my fees and that's the end of it; anyone who doesn't want to pay them is more than welcome to go elsewhere. I don't mind offering discounts and deals to good customers (longstanding regulars etc), and have done many 'mates rates' deals when going on trips and so on when I know that I will enjoy myself a lot, but the best way to get my back up is to phone and ask for money off when we haven't even met yet!

If you are in the UK, then there is no legal issues to worry about. Prostitution is legal here - running an agency/brothel or pimping isn't. http://www.sw5.info/law.htm

But it isn't in the States in any form, where Joey is. Hence why Lexie's asking.
That's the difficulty with Joey being in the States. What may apply to us may not apply to him.

How timely is this.
I received an email over the weekend with what's now becoming my new favourite line I'm loving to hate, "what's your best price?" In this case it was for an overnight.
First of all I wrote back and said my prices are as stated on my website. He wrote back and asked if I would reconsider.
I had a think about it and I came up with what I thought was a decent compromise: He could have a fee-reduced overnight, but shorter on time. I.e. if he wants it for less money, I'll be happy to do it, for less hours. Still stay overnight, but leave much earlier in the morning than I would otherwise do; don't stay for breakfast, etc. I asked him to write back to let me know if he was happy with that.
Obviously not because I haven't heard from since. Which leads me to think that he still wants the same full service, but at a reduced price. He doesn't want much, does he?

yeah i know how it is over here, im just curious as to how serious it is in the US.  I mean, i can understand the cops going for street hookers and brothels (because they would be relatively easy to find so more time for donuts lol) and i can see that they might go to the effort of shutting down agencies but it all seems like a lot of effort to target indies really if you think that it would be alot of man power to catch just one person.

And i dont know what the punishment would be.  I mean you sort of get the impression that you would be arrested, fined and let go but is that the case or do you go to jail or what happens.

Dont get me wrong, i wasnt sure about the laws in this country until i started researching working and allthough i would have done it anyway i was relieved to find out i would be ok.  I looked in to that before i even looked in to how much i should charge lol

Some police forces target indies, and in some states it's legal for the officer to arrest someone after fucking them.

Oh my gosh, how could I forget about this thread? I missed all the responses after page one while I was traveling. And thankyou all for that as it REALLY helped last night...

At this point I could really use a booking. However, last night someone called me at 2 am. Having already been tucked in bed, I answered anyway as I didnt mind to take one at that time. I was already given the address, and knew what I was in for but Low and Behold at the end of the conversation he says, I only have x amount on me  :o. I paused for about 5 seconds and even as desperate as I am right about now, all the thought about the past FEW haggler appointments I've taken have gone badly so I just said no. Plus it was already late (on a weeknight) and he'd told me he just came from a nightclub which also made me a bit leery, in addition it would of been a 20 minute drive across town. Why the f*ck should I accept $40 off my rate at that time of night  ???
