Yes clients do read this forum, I get the impression that most of the guys that lurk are probably members of the punting forums. I have no problem with them reading it though.

I changed my name as I was worried my ex may have worked it out (just paranoia on my part tbh) and afterwards changed my working name too, so I now have a separate name for saafe and use casey for this forum. I would like to make them the same but if I change it I don't think that anyone on SAAFE will know who I am lol, I will be putting a link to my website on my SAAFE profile at some point though!

edit: There was a thread about this last week or fairly recently, if you do a search I'm sure you'll find it.

It is certain that some clients read it (every so often, one tries to post). It is - by design - readable by anyone, so if you don't want your working persona associated with what you write here, either use a different name or don't write it :)

'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

There are actually usually more 'guests' reading the forum than there are members posting.  It is best not to put anything in a post that you dont want any 'joe soap' to read.  Sadly it is true 'anyone' can read these threads.  Please be careful what you write.

The forum users are listed at the bottom of the 'home' page of the forum.  Lets you know how many 'guests' and 'members' there are online at any one time.

I've seen whole threads about SAAFE opening in punter forums. I read them out of curiosity. The general consensus was shock, disbelief, what a bunch of angry cows we seemed and what a low opinion of punters we had (don't know how they came up with that, but hey, don't ask me!). Then there was always the smart one who stated: "Oh, but they're just a very small representation of WG's so you musn't worry, because WG are sooooo much nicer, they don't think LIKE THAT". Then everybody agreeded. I got the idea that in their eyes were just a very tiny group of deranged women  ranting about our problems who don't really represent the industry. Some sort of "mumsnetters" discussing golden showers, doggy style and dangerous guys. Each to their  own.
Mornings were made for sleeping, wild sex and bacon.

Punting forums are not the topic of this thread, nor are they going to become so. It has been made clear on here many times that discussion of other boards is off topic for the forum.

The OP is asking whether actual clients read this forum, not whether random people discuss it on other ones. The answer is categorically yes (and to the people who didn't realise this, how did you think you could see it before you joined?) and anyone who is worried about what others may think would therefore do well to join under an anonymous nick if this would be enough to stop them posting freely.

I have punters mention stuff on here occasionally, and it doesn't make any odds to me, but then the folk I meet tend to have the sense to understand things like context, which can't be said for all.

I am happy to clients to read what I post. I stand and fall by my opinions so it matters not who sees what I write and where.

Amy,
I know this is off topic and apologise in advance but when I saw Lady Lust's comment, just thought i'd check who was on this forum.
Guests 50... Members 12 (2 hidden) and that's just re-inforcing what both of you and most of the other posts have already said... alter ego's are the way to go 8)

'Guest' just means people who are reading and not logged in though - it could be any of us and often it is; not everybody bothers to sign in when they're only on for a quick read. It's not necessarily people who aren't members, nor is it necessarily people who aren't sex workers - not everybody wants to register if they only come along now and again to check Warnings, for example.

Plus there will also be journalists, project workers, people from HMRC/the benefits office and various other random interested parties - people researching books and so on, as well as the usual robots and spiders. They're not all punters by a long chalk. And all are welcome to read it - I don't think alter egos are the way to go unless you want to post things you wouldn't want them to associate with you, or rather your work persona.
