I am looking for some non-sexual companionship work and I understand this is very hard (if not impossible) to come by. I was wondering if anyone has heard of, or had experience with, just4dates.co.uk. The information supplied on the website seems promising but I am new at this. Does anyone have any advice?

You can actually view profiles (although the interface for browsing them is absolutely horrible), and they'd probably let you make a booking with one of the escorts if you wanted to. This site falls under the category of rubbish advertising site rather than outright scam. It's better to waste ?17 there rather than ?300 on Escortopia, but it'll still be a waste of money.

I like on one hand they say that you are not employed by them, but later go on to say that they pay you at the end of the month.

I would avoid any agency that withholds payment from you "until the end of the month". For the two minutes I worked for an agency (albeit a sexual one) the client paid me and I deposited the agency's 30% into their bank account. I don't know if that's the norm as it was many moons ago and it lasted all of two weeks, but I've never heard of having to wait until the end of the month to be paid, by any agency.
