I've stupidly cut my hair too short and it looks dreadful. I'm going on tour and don't feel confident enough so I've bought a wig. It's a full wig and my daughter helped me cut it to the shape my hair was and the colour is a perfect match too.

It's synthetic so any care advice would be appreciated. I'm a bit worried about getting bodily fluids on it as I'm guessing water would spoil it. Also, I don't know what the life of a wig is. I'm about to embark on a 14 day tour.

I've bought another for when I get home as I'm assuming after the tour it won't be in such great shape. I do a lot of bjs and rimming so am hoping it survives.
You should come to my house I must have about 300+ wigs lol they have there own little room
Don't get them hot. If it's synthetic

Mine last around 6 - 8 weeks then they can start to look bitty so  I tend to put them away and use for holidays / messing aroynd in but not for work as

The main trick I find with wigs is getting ones that suit your complexion
I tend to stick with 27/30/40 as a rule or TT 1b/30 most wigs in those colours regardless of the style will suit me
This means at the roots it's a colour 4 for about 7 inches then then a 27 for 10 -12 inches then the tips are a 30 with a few long strands of 30 blended in
So it goes progressively lighter toward the ends ( if that's makes senses ) and looks really nice

I have a lady in China who makes mine for me so when I buy a wig that I like I send it to her and she makes it up for me for around 10 dollars and i buy in bulk this is great as the wigs I normally but are around ?50 This is why I have so bloody many lol
If your black / mixed race and want some good wigs i reccomend NYHairmall in the states
Or Afro styling in Manchester in the UK ( they are brilliant pretty cheap and have a few a of my favourites on there
I love Anais,  Beshe mowtown tresses Ldp shore as styles atm

I've been growing my hair for a year too, but my hair is very fine, so bought a 3/4 hair piece and a ponytail.  I've not worn them for work yet, but when I was at a fetish event recently I wore my ponytail and had some fun with another girl.  Even though it was securely fastened in, she still managed to pull it off, which made me think that either hair pieces may not be suitable for work, especially (as I've mentioned before) if clients like to run their fingers through my hair.  Shame as I love the different looks they give me.

I have been wering a clip in pony, its on a net and then has grips and a drawstring,  y the time I have tightened it, it would actually hurt for someone to manage to pull it off and I would definately be able to stop them, try the EZ human hair pony tail, but dont use the claw clip that comes with it. put your own hair in a bun and make sure you use the grips and try to push them so that they rest under your bun, then pull the drawstring as far as you can and wrap it round your pony tail (use a small but strong hair bobble for your bun )

I recently started wearing a wig for work and I'm just hooked. Saves so much money at the hairdressers too. Wouldn't be without it anymore.

I have to wear a wig for work to hide my identity as it would be way too easily recognised in my AW pics as it's short, undercut and I have a love of alternative colours.

I started off buying long human hair wigs on old, eBay and a few other sites.  However I was constantly disappointed by their quality and they never looked anything like the images shown online.
Another problem was the long hair got messy very easily and had to be washed at least once a week sometimes more .... (facials :-()

Anyway By chance I spotted a wig shop (a proper one aimed towards cancer and a alopecia sufferers).
All the wigs supplied by the store to my surprise were synthetic, I opted for a angled bob it was pretty pricy around ?270, but the quality is amazing!

It's a 'Rene au paris' brand, with a mono cap so the parting looks pretty natural.  I rarely wash it as it's a great length for keeping out of the way of jizz, and doesn't end up getting ruffled about from being thrown into different positions.

It's definitely not the sexiest wig, but it's classy and cute and easy to maintain so a winner in my eyes!

When clients do notice I'm wearing a wig I explain that my current hair is short and pink ... thinking that this would be an instant turn off.  But been quite surprised as all of the ones who noticed have said they love unusual hair... and the wigs ended up getting tosssd to the other side of the room

Had alopecia around 10 years ago bad lost an eyebrow and nearly all my eyelashes.

Now due I think to the mirena it is back and I'm on tour and it coming out in handfuls , I take an anti androgen drug every day ( because I have androgenic alopecia and allergic to the male , can't think of name off top of head but hormone we all have ) and my hair took 3 years to grow back .

Just found out mirena is an androgen drug , they fucking knew I'd had it before and promised it wouldn't affect  my hair anyway it's back with a vengeance , I'm working but have been really teary because I've just come back to work but have to blow dry sides and fringe between bookings and it's coming out like mad .

I have bald spots everywhere , can just about cover it ( mirena I took out).

I know there's a wig thread but if I wear one should I mention first ??

I even usually use a magic wand to style it , but have it up mainly for work , now I have one side that's maybe 5 mm long that I can barely tuck behind my ear , mega depressed and fuming with the hospital .

Problem is the more bookings I take the more I have to brush it !

Please feel free to merge if this should be in the wig thread thanks

I've merged it just to keep it on sex work and doing bookings, since you can get general advice all over the internet :).

Oh no i really feel for you and understand you must be really stressed out over it all and especially with doing bookings. I would suggest wearing a wig and i dont feel you need to tell them if its real or fake hair is hair wether stuck on or grown and dont forget many men like long hair and book for that also but a lot have hair extensions. I have known 2 woman in the past that always wore wigs one had your condition and one wanted a different look for work so she steps in that role.

I bought a wig a few months ago from a similar shop to one mentioned here, not a fancy dress shop as they are certainly cheap but mostly not very convincing.

My wig cost just under ?200 and is synthetic. I was advised the real hair ones are much harder to maintain. Synthetic needs hardly any care if not worn all the time. I only use it for work and not in public. The one I really wanted had the most realistic staggered parting and was gorgeous but nearly ?400 and I could not justify spending that as I don't actually need a wig I just wanted a different look.

I wear mine for new clients who honestly don't know the difference and I swear none have guessed as it is not overly long or thick which I think would give it away.  It is very light weight and I use nice clips to push the sides back which also adds more security as the first time I wore it for a booking I was terrified it would slip or come off. It didn't of course but as long as no man attempts to pull my hair I am confident wearing it now.

I know it must be so frustrating for you and not getting the help you want and need but least with work you can put on a wig and try and forget about the patches as the client wont see and if he starts getting rough with hair like some do you can say you dont like it being touched much because your nerves on your scalp are very sensitive and you get bad headaches very easy from the hair being played with.

I get bored of my hair but punters love it n like pulling it n playing with it and looking at it. It's one of my good points. However, I've seen these hair pieces that basically just have an elastic thin band you hide in your natural hair and the extension sort of goes underneath. It looks easy n makes you hair look fuller and longer. Has anyone tried these type of extensions? If so has anyone tried a curly style one? Cos it seems to me they are mainly straight or wavy and may not look realistic in curly like the others do.

If anyone knows any reliable places to buy human hair lace top wig I'd be really grateful if you could pm me , even a synthetic one with a lace top .

I really like the Jon Renau Scarlett one ( looks like my own hair )but it's coming up really expensive online ( I've just been ripped off for 200 quid !

Chinese Scam ! Absolutely nothing I can do , tried chargeback etc but nope , they have the money and no way am I getting it back!

So I just have to swallow it , pun intended :)
