Anyone advertise on Gumtree? A big problem to me!
« on: 21 August 2015, 05:09:32 pm »
I have been trying to post ad on gumtree, but all were removed, and have been told that I can't post any ad on gumtree anymore in future sadly, I call customer service, they said they have no idea what to do, but the final decision is made. if I want to post ad in future, what can I do? I try to change different computer, different ip address, and bank card to pay, but won't work out, just wondering how do they know its me to post ad?  its very odd, and make me so sad.

I got email below send from gumtree:

This is an automated email to let you know that we have now reviewed your Gumtree account. Your account clearly shows non-compliance of our posting rules. Therefore, our original decision to restrict your access is upheld.
We reserve the right to remove ads and restrict user access. This is in accordance with our terms and conditions, which can be seen on the website: gumtree.com/disclaimer.html

This decision is final and not open to further consideration, any future correspondence will not be answered.

It sounds to me like Gumtree just isn't going to work for you. Whatever you were doing to get flagged up, unless you know exactly what you were doing, will probably happen again.

I breaked the rule very long time ago once before, maybe I mentioned the sex,  after that, whatever the massage ad I post, it will all removed, but I try to change different computer, different IP address, and bank card with different card holder, it won't work out.
I don't know why and how do they know its me again?

It's not just you .
GT  have been doing this for a couple of years to my friends.
They won't use Gumtree anymore.

GT remove ads, delete photos, describe
what clothes you can wear in photos.
Now they banned photos of humans in adult and massage section.

I don't think they want girls custom.

Reading your other message and now this......it doesnt matter what you try and do to place a advert .......you cant disguise YOUR account with gumtree no matter who's computer you use

This is an automated email to let you know that we have now reviewed YOUR Gumtree account.

In other words if you use the same account it wont let you .

Gumtree are run by the scum that created eBay I don't trust anyone in their little group but if you are posting explicit ads on there I'm not surprised they got deleted. eBay doesn't condone sex work well not in the public eye anyway, you can bet your ass they are profiting off us behind the scenes though.

I'm surprised Gumtree allow ANY adult related ads at all to be honest.

Gum tree is a no go area to escort they clamped down years ago. If a payment is made I doubt a refund will be given because their terms and conditions. Or you could go down the chargeback route for services not received. It is easier on a credit card with a debit card is difficult  but possible. You have to prove breach of contract.

I'm working on a case right now and have covered it from all angles.

I think Gumtree tried to 'clean up' it's image a few years ago, even stopping their no strings encounters section.

There are much better places to advertise and in my opinion will result in less timewasters after free sex. Advertise where you can show your photos and explain your services properly and don't bother with having to sugarcoat it. I don't understand why anyone would bother with sites that aren't actually for sex workers to be honest.

It's probably the words that you use that cause it to get flagged. If you create a new account and just paraphrase an existing advert that's got through but put your own words into it not using any euphamisms such as "open minded", "discrete" and these types of words you should get it through but then again as others have said what would be the point as you won't get the right customers and if you did get customers and they found it wasa happy ending type of massage it would only take a bad report and you'd have your account suspended again

If you are doing genuine non escort massage work then I'd persist as it's the biggest place for general purpose adverts in the UK and is better than all of the other online advert sites imo but not for sex work related adverts

Use a different email address, clear you cache and close the old account from a different ip address and you'll eventually get there, and don't use any suggestive photographs

I agree with Banshee - it seems pointless to me to try and get business from a site that actively discourages sex workers. It's not as if there aren't plenty of other places to advertise?

If you talk to Gumtree on Twitter they'll refund you the money for ads that aren't showing or have been taken down.
