Pressure to verify
« on: 31 July 2010, 10:40:05 pm »
After reading several threads, and spending some four months building up feedback on AW, I am now worried they could delete my profile without notice upon a minor complaint. Does verification matter? Would it make a difference to be verified or not?

TBH I am not sure. I guess it would stop someone being nasty and saying your profile is not real as has happened to me before and my profile was removed losing me quite alot of credits (until I kicked up a big stink and got them back). Verification stops that and lets guys know you are real and not a fake profile

Lucy, I would not worry if you know the rules. For AW newbies it REALLY pays off if you take time to look at the features and terms and conditions of the site.  It is an amazing site and you can make loads of money from it if you work it.

Punters do not routinely try and have you stuck off.  From my experience and the escorts I have met it is only if you duplicate your pictures or have poor quality (i,e grainy) pictures\movies or have duplicate profiles.

Oh yes, and they do not like it if you tout in your blogs.  So you can say "I am going on holiday to Nottingham, wave if you see me", but not, "I am going on tour to Nottingham, book now!".  I think they just strike your blog off in this case.

For any ladies who are thinking about uploading a verification face photo but wish it to be kept private, it's worth drawing attention to a Greasemonkey script which is currently being passed around the houses that allows anyone using it to view these images (it was originally being mooted as a way to spot fake profiles since it also allows users to see how many unread emails/booking requests a member offering services had, and needless to say the ability to view face pictures which ladies had uploaded in good faith believing they would be secure has not exactly been shouted from the rooftops). The script is apparently no longer available from GM, but it's unlikely that we will have to wait long for a replacement, and even if there isn't one the first will be spreading like wildfire.

As Pandora said, some people find the site very lucrative and whilst I've heard a couple of tales of people having their credits pinched following an undeserved deactivation, I wouldn't have thought it was that common provided you stay within the rules. If you do anything which earns you any amount of credits, keep spending them or draw them out/cash them in, whatever it's called. I would personally strongly advise against sending the personal details they are wanting for this 'full' verification though, and would feel exactly the same way about any random offshore company which contacted me asking for them.

Thank you for your input everyone, it has put my mind at rest. I am not going to verify my profile, and I am unhappy that AW have introduced their new policy. Client connections etc are not something I would be interested in, and if I ever send someone a 'flirt' I think I will have to shoot myself...but surely I still deserve to be able to view prospective clients profiles? Any Tom Dick or Harry can view mine. I used to have a quick glance to check when they joined etc, I cannot do that now. Does anyone have any idea why we are being asked to provide such intrusive information? I would have thought that after you had quite a lot of positive feedback etc you had verified yourself, so to speak. I understand that for some it is a minor thing, but speaking for myself I am really troubled at the idea of giving anyone such personal information.

I think alot of it is age verification. They have proof of your age as well as prrof that you are indeed who you say you are and not some ex boyfriend putting your pics up.

I verified with id but I blanked out any information I didnt want them to have in advance, i.e driving licence no and address.

And there is the other problem. I am lying about my age. It isn't to deceive, quite the opposite, it is to make myself unidentifiable in as much as I can. I'm so miffed about the whole thing!

it doesnt put your real age on your profile. I dont have any age on mine ;D

It is purely to verify you are over 18 and who you say you are

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. But I just can't. It was bad enough verifying my profile to advertise on E-I, i am still worrying about that. I cannot, repeat cannot, send a pic to anyone of me holding a card saying Adultwork..and if I sent my driving licence I wouldn't sleep for a week. I am honestly flummoxed.

Well I tried to verify myself with a photo. I chose to keep the photo private as, although I do show my face, it wasn't a very flattering pic. Anyway, it says the photo was approved but it still does not say "Verified" on my profile  ???

Amber it will only say verified on your profile if you do photo and ID verification.

I can understand alot of people not wanting anyone to have their details or their face photos. I guess Aw didnt think of it that way as they think that most people give them their details (name & address) anyway for either cheques or bank transfers for their credits

For any ladies who are thinking about uploading a verification face photo but wish it to be kept private, it's worth drawing attention to a Greasemonkey script which is currently being passed around the houses that allows anyone using it to view these images

For those who don't know, Greasemonkey is an incredibly powerful web browser add-on, originally for Firefox, which enables scripts to alter what the browser sees before it first sees it. If you know the web scripting language Javascript well, you can make GM do some very neat things and collections of other people's scripts exist if you don't :)

But if a GM script to do this exists, it suggests that AW have been very sloppy in their security in terms of, say, relying on obscure URLs for secrecy of private images. I'd be interested to see just what's going on but a search for 'greasemonkey adultwork' doesn't come up with anything useful.

I would personally strongly advise against sending the personal details they are wanting for this 'full' verification though, and would feel exactly the same way about any random offshore company which contacted me asking for them.

Quite - given the lengths AW go to to keep the identities and location of who's behind it secret, it's somewhat hypocritical to expect anyone else to give them highly sensitive info on trust.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Ah thanks Danielle. I thought it was "either" the passport "or" the pic for the big green tick. They ain't getting my passport details!

I haven't verified my aw account and don't plan to either as you rightly say why would I want these anonymous people to see my details  ???
