Research on sex workers who also have another job
« on: 12 September 2016, 11:48:27 am »
Hi all,

I?m writing a report for a monthly women?s magazine, and would be very grateful to hear from women who work a ?square? job alongside their sex work and who are willing to be interviewed. The interviews can be conducted over the phone, by Skype or in person - whichever is preferable and most convenient to you.

The report will be a sensitive, thoroughly researched piece and of course anybody who gets in touch will be granted anonymity. It would be hugely helpful to hear the various reasons why some women choose to do both types of work, whatever they may be.

I am able to offer a small fee in exchange for your much-appreciated time.

Please do get in touch if you are interested in or have any questions at all ? Jennifer.Savin@hearst.co.uk.

Thank you for your time.

Best,
Jenni

I realise I've been out of the civvy workplace for longer than a lot of people, but I have no idea what a 'square' job entails. What shape is prostitution?

You'll also need to tell us specifically which magazine this is for, since I daresay most of us would be influenced by this as to whether or not we want to participate (I normally count the number of exclamation marks on the cover and decide based on that :)). And will anybody taking part have a say in what is included or left out, bearing in mind that some sectors will sack anyone discovered to be participating in sex work?

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your comment and questions. A 'square' job would encompass any work that is non-sexual, apologies if this is not the best term to use (saying a 'normal' or 'stereotypical' job didn't feel right either).

Anybody taking part would have the right to have the piece read back to them before it is published, offering the chance to change any details or point out any inaccuracies. Of course I would obscure any details which could lead to any participant's identities being exposed. The magazine is Cosmopolitan.

Very best,
Jenni

According with her email above (I google it), she is legit and works for Cosmopolitan.
I would participate in this research only if it can be done through email :)

Well it's as good a term as any - in my experience, most self employed people (not just us) use the term 'civvy' job to denote working for an employer.

Mr Amy and I decided that we think prostitution is round.

I know that, since I googled it when she registered. I wanted to know whether the OP would be prepared to post as such on here.

Absolutely, it'd be great to speak over email. Please could you drop me a line (on Jennifer.Savin@hearst.co.uk) if you're interested and we can go from there?

Thank you!
