Has anyone had problems with indiscreet clients
« on: 27 November 2016, 08:10:07 pm »
Had a newbie guy make a booking today, all was going fine until he revealed over the phone, that one of his buddies down the pub had been bragging about seeing me,  given him and other men that night , my flat number, street address, building name. Also showed them my private gallery. After he revealed that, i got worried,  made my excuses and came up with a excuse to cancel.  How can someone be so careless. I don't understand why he couldn't just give them my website. Why did he have to give all his mates down the pub , my full address.  I'm absolutely fuming.

I'm so sorry this happened, I would be livid as well.

Do you know who it was that shared this information out? Perhaps text or email him explaining how it was inappropriate and dangerous.

Hi

Yes, rather than making an excuse not to see him, it would have been better to tell him that a punter is not wanted if they are so careless and disrespectful. Maybe if you see any other newbies, try and find out if they were given your details and stress the importance of them keeping it to themselves for the purpose of your safety and reputation and...or only see men from outside the area?

Sorry you have experienced this idiot x

I did ask innocently which friend recommended  me but he said he didn't want to drop his friend in it.

Yes and it's happened with men from out of the area, as well as immediately local.

Very disappointing.

This is just awful, good call to cancel it, sounds really bad

What I have tried is never giving them the full address in a text,
only over the phone in hope, they forget it afterward.

But that does not always work as some like to memorize it.

I was ones expecting a client and the door bell rings and I let the client in, take the donation and then doorbell rings again and I see my phone is ringing from the person that was meant to be here.

I ask him, sorry but you don't have an appointment with me do you?
And he says "Sorry no, just forgot your number and hoped you were free to see me"

"Out, and no you can not come to see me again"

So he did not want to drop his friend in it yet they were fine to share your details in the pub, giving out your address etc?!!!
If I have a call from someone who says their mate/pal gave them my number I just do not see them, will not tolerate any man who shows even the slightest indiscretion. I have asked them on the phone who passed my number on and they are either vague or obviously make up a name which is no use to me when trying to screen these men.
This job has enough risks and worries without these men making it worse.

If a new caller tells me he lives or is coming from somewhere very close to me I put him off and say I am busy or something as I will avoid anyone who I could bump into locally if possible. They could find it a temptation to call at my door without a booking and the thought of that boils me up.

What worries me is the potential extra risks this indiscretion can bring. undesirable People just showing up at your flat-who you didn't screen,   gaining stalkers and having creepy curious men hanging around,  watching you leave your working flat in the evenings etc.  Very dangerous.  Im probably overreacting with these scenarios....  but there are some strange people in this world.

Did the guy acually reveal to you your address/details? Cos he could have 'just' been playing silly buggers with you.

I would have cancelled too.

Yes he smugly told me my flat number and building name. Obviously I didn't confirm if he was right or not.

I remember one man who did this back tracked, then when he turned up didn't follow my directions, put the phone down before I could point out the front door. Of course he knew the number. He then phoned from just outside, standing back shouting "Is it number x Mirror, am I outside the right door" so loudly I could hear him from 1 floor up, so neighbours would have heard if listening.

Worst thing was that he was a very nervous type, who also was terrified of 'catching' something. A very awkward booking, which was not set off well by his behaviour.
