Try to get plenty of rest and sleep, plenty of exercise, eat properly and avoid stress as they are all triggers. Also the obvious one is to avoid sex and all sexual activities whilst having an outbreak and for at least a week or so AFTER the sores have completely disappeared to minimise infecting anyone else. Also wash hands frequently and avoid touching the affected area and other parts of your body including your eyes as you can spread it around.

This advice above makes it seem like outbreaks are common but they are actually very rare...

I think it depends on the individual. My mum suffers from them on her face and she has them fairly frequently as in maybe once every couple of months sometimes more frequently then that. I've known other working ladies to have them down below fairly frequently and in other cases, other than an initial outbreak or two nothing after that or maybe they just weren't showing symptoms. People that I know that have it have said that they tend to get them more frequently when they are tired and/or run down or if under a lot of stress.

I think, as a general rule, herpes on the face is a lot more common and linked to stress and genital herpes is linked to friction and so can be managed better.

I think if you have it you know it's not as bad as it sounds. I didn't even know I had it till some guy told me he had suddenly contracted it and then I got an outbreak shortly after. It's bad at the first outbreak I suspect because it can seem like thrush and so some people may be taking the wrong medication etc...once you get the right medication, it's OK. I know there are so-called complications but it's better to remain positive as there is no cure so once you have it, you just have to get on with it. I could have spent the last few years freaking out about it but nothing would have changed. It hasn't affected my life at all. In terms of punters, if they wear condoms, why is it a problem? For those punters who want BB and the escorts who do that, that surely is the risk the man takes as an adult?

Shingles are also a form of herpes caused by the chicken pox virus. Once in a blue moon I have a 5p size patch appear on my backside I can go years without it appearing, usually its if I get the flu or I'm unwell which is not often but when it appears it lasts about a week.
Genital herpes can appear anywhere under the waist, including buttocks.  Have you had your swabs taken?  Unless it is confirmed by the lab, it could also be herpes. Lots of people believe it's shingles whilst it's herpes simplex, a different virus.  I have seen shingles (e.g. healthcare background), they appear in cluster.

She said I don't have HIV but like my worry still there about it  :FF

Apparently HIV is harder to get though ? And I never did bbfs

Herpes is one of the easiest STIs to get because it's passed skin to skin, and a condom only cover the penis.

If you've had a STI screen (from a proper clinic) then you have nothing to worry about. I go for a full screen every month. I am fully prepared for getting something at some point, at which point I'll stop working, take treatment and not work again until I'm clear.

If you worked in an end-of-life hospice you'd be expected to declare any episodes of D&V or cold, etc.

Some STD's are not curable though and also, we do this primarily for the money. Just because an escort gets herpes doesn't mean she should stop working. She still has the issue that she had before she didn't have the herpes-a need for finances. I agree that an escort shouldn't work if they are aware they have an outbreak of course.

I often look at this way, nobody wants to think it's STD when suddenly blusters, ulcers or round raised mark on buttocks or in genitals, appear, especially, in men.   They self-diagnose, "shingles" .  Or, GP might have misdiagnosed it without sending samples to the labs.  I'm sure we regularly encounter men with a history of genital herpes without any visible sores, never been diagnosed, but those who are still contagious all the same, thinking, "yeah, I get shingles over my penis on and off". Oh yeah., it makes sense (mild sarcasm).    I might consider getting alcohol wipes, not joking.   :-\

Shingles is rare in the under-50s I think though? And most common aged 70+, hence the vaccination campaign.

From what I have read, I believe if your immune system is low you are also more prone to an outbreak, so eating a healthy diet and maybe taking a supplement like zinc could help keep them to a minimum.

What I would be wary of, in particular, in escorting, there must be men, who deliberately try to pass it on.

I have had someone who's ok, but whenever I gave him OWO, my throat was really strange.  Some of these men may/might be carrying something, but they never tell you. 2) they are unaware of the disease (maybe, symptom-free or little irritation, only to him) and remain undiagnosed or he doesn't think it would cause anything sinister or if it's going to be passed on. 3) Those who were given this disease by women will try to "get even" by passing it onto other women.  (Remember there are some men, who are capable of being vindictive and cruel.)

There are cases in the US that men, knowingly passing genital herpes well proved to be an offence.  As someone else said earlier, it "could" be a serious chronic disease, and it will stay with you FOR LIFE.  I wondered if it's the same in the UK?

I have a good immune system, I feel like The Rock.
So me getting beat down by this so badly is really shitty

Oh my, yes!
There have been a few men who had been seeing me about once a week, for about a year, that I agreed to allow bbfs AFTER they had a full panel, including viral antibodies. Of the three, one's tests came back with HSV 2 (genital).  Weird, right? Why would he do the tests (several hundred dollars in the US), knowing what they'd say?

Like you said, he said he'd been getting "rashes" periodically since college!  Are you kidding me?!?
