The future as we know it?
« on: 16 March 2017, 05:43:31 pm »
Wow I got some stick for my last post, anyway thought I would stick my head over the parapit again with a genuine light-hearted debate.

Im coming to the end of my working life in this industry, I feel, sadly, yes, Im a "niche" but I started in 1998, advertising in contact mags, free magazines and papers, and joined Aw when it first started (not with same profile lol!), over the years I worked closely with dozens of ladies from all walks of life coming into this, Ive seen the good times when a girl could do her xmas shopping in a stretch limo, or others pay off their mortgage and retire to the sun.
I saw a blog on another site today from a wg who thought weve had the credit crunch, then the property boom, and now this Industry is on the decline.
I know we are going to get the "im making ?350 a day every day thanks",but what are your thoughts on how things have changed, for better or worse, is their a decline and possible reasons you see?

The barriers to entry have been getting lower ever since mobiles and the web made it vastly easier to work independently. There will always be a street scene and brothels show no signs of declining, but a substantial indy scene is relatively new and you would have to be brave to predict its future.

Are there more escorts? Yes, but the supply of clients has also increased.

Wondering if this will turn into the Four Yorkshiremen, erm, Prostitutes...

When I were a lass we used to eat the chocolates our punters gave us, or nowt! :D

Seriously I've only been doing this a short while so I can't say how things may have changed, but I can say that the way things in general have changed is towards a more personal, interconnected style of "selling" which is often focused on social media.  If you think about how advertising methods have changed in the last 20 years, print media has all but disappeared, everything is geared online and customers (in any vertical) are accustomed to being able to use specific search terms and criteria, and read reviews.

I know many people of my own age (40s) who would not even think about buying a ?20 item on Amazon unless there were a decent amount of positive reviews.

I think advertising which focuses on happy customers and points people towards proof of that (e.g. AW feedback) will attract clients of a certain "discerning" type (I don't really mean discerning but you know what I mean. They don't want to risk their cash on someone who doesn't have any social proof, basically.)

Diversifying your offering can also help. I do a lot of webcam work and I sell movie clips too. I have a pretty loyal fan base with those because I engage personally with consumers over AW and on Twitter and my own website (I run a weekly newsletter there.)

"Wondering if this will turn into the Four Yorkshiremen, erm, Prostitutes..." lol!-had to Google that one!

no wasnt trying to be down-beat or make a Hovis ad-yes, maybe the market is saturated, and things are too unpredictable,I think if you dont have regulars its harder to get newbies, the great thing about the net is you dont have to reel off a full script with phone calls or a 50 piece Q@a, but surely all these swinger sites who offer freebies without the need to string a sentence together, or the likes of sugar daddies or whatever its called-or maybe even the binge-drinking culture where half the population seem to get bladdered into a semi-comatose state every Friday night and wake up next to who-knows?

I'm pretty sure casual sex has been around for as long as, if not longer than prostitution. I'm even surer that the internet didn't invent it, unless I have incredibly skewed memories of the late 80's :).

Men that want a fuck are just that, they cant go out on piss and pull, I dont think people on nights out are any competition at all, as for swingers sites its still very hard to get a fuck as a single man, I dont think that interferes with us at all

Does anybody know if it's true that most of these so called "Swinger Parties" are really clever marketing with the girls being paid as "Swinger hostesess", so in fact it's not really lovely girls wanting to get it on with older men or do genuine swinging parties exist. I've never been to a swinging party and never been invited to one

Iv been doing this 10 years and I think over all it has declined slightly but not as much as we all think right now. Although the decline is noticeable we take notice more in the first few months of the year cause everything is slow and we're dipping into savings to pay bills, it's easy to forget the good times that are ahead (April and beyond hopefully) I guess we're all mega sensitive and definitely fed up of getting our glad rags on and not having the day we needed.

I believe there are lots of factors.. a huge one.. I was touring in a place last week advertising at ?70 for 30 mins fully inclusive, another girl that looked bloody stunning was doing an HOUR for ?50 everything included. How do I compete? The only plus side is I think guys are getting wise to these 'great offers'.

I think there's more clients around now though because over few years iv noticed a lot of really young attractive lads coming along where as 10 years ago it would have been generally your over 40's and maybe a party full of lads wanting a few girls, now it seems to be a kind of fashion with the young ones. The creepy, full mac kind of stigma has gone.

Xx

Yes. The events you're thinking of usually don't call themselves swinger parties, but gang bangs or 'parties'.

Outside the gay scene, they tend to be very m/f couple + single women focused, although some 'straight' venues have bi-male events.

Ten seconds with a search engine should find you some more or less close to you.

Could that be a genuine price or was it somewhere like the North East or Wales

Thanks for that Ian. I watched that Monty Mython sketch, that's funny and kids used to recite it at school years after it was first shown, "Cardboard box int middle of road". I thought it was a pub you were talking about to begin with and you were meaning you didn't want it to end up like a pub chat "Three Yorkshireman" sounds like it could be a pub dont you think
