I've hit a mental brick wall!!!
« on: 19 September 2017, 04:13:13 pm »
Uchhh ladies. I need some help. I seem to have hit a mental brick wall; I feel emotionally tired.

I was off for a few weeks and on my return just can't seem to find the energy to complete my work days. I only work a few days a week but because I book hotels, I like to get my days filled. Previously I could easily see up to 5 clients a day. Today I have seen 3, still have 2 more to go and I am exhausted. I went out for coffee and cake to try refuel but just seem so tired :(

How do you all combat this?

Sometimes I cut myself some slack.

Other times I try to keep my energy levels up via nutrition and exercise.

If I don't have evening bookings before evening, I tend to turn off my phone. If I am committed to an 8pm booking then I will try to fill in the whole day leading up to that time.

Something I do if I feel low on energy is to adjust my prices so that my half hour is more attractive than my hour. I find it much easier to handle two individual half hours, than one customer for an hour. I have also said "I can only do half hour appointments today" to guys trying to book an hour, although I don't feel the need to do that very often.

I tend to gain energy from exercise so if I have an hour spare I will often go out for a long-ish walk if there's no gym nearby.

On a different track, how about meditation? I use an app called Stop, Breathe, Think - it's free and has some really good guided meditations.

Maybe its time to acknowledge that at least for the time being 4/5 clients a day is too many. I understand you want your days filled, but health comes first.

I personally for health reasons just would never be able to see 5 clients, 2 clients knacker me out, and couldn't even see that many every day.

Pace yourself for a while, also acknowledge if you've been off it will take a while to get used to it again, no short cuts I'm afraid!

I've never had an issue with energy but today it has happened again and I have only seen one client. I have realised it is the time of day, rather than amount of clients. Lunch time / 2pm and I am as low as the ground.

I reckon low blood sugar, so have stocked up on sugary drinks, which I have never really drank before.

Let's hope the lull passes today and I know in future not to schedule clients for this time! (Which is rubbish because it is the busiest time of day for me)

But yes, health comes first

it is great to see 5 clients each day, but i really think is toooo much long term! it is a big stress for your body and for your CNS brain!

then it is up to you! it is overworking it! (personally)

meditation could help but to me you are asking too much to your self!
it is like to working out 5 times in a day, not really healthy.

Sex is like workout, you consume energy, you need fuel!
good nutrition like an atlhete, and good sleep, no drugs and alcol....

more the weather, winter coming...you feel more tired due to the change of season as well!

healthy diet, good sleep, time for your self.

If it is low blood sugar then a sugary drink is only going to give you a temp high, then a massive crash.

You'd be better off with something high protein. No idea what vegans can have, personally I'd eat a chicken breast or snack on some biltong.

Are you vegetarian or vegan? If the former I would highly recommend having eggs for breakfast or lunch, as they will keep you going for 4-5 hours. Also try things like hummus or bean salad, i.e. slow release carbs and moderately high in protein. Also snack on nuts (not the hairy kind...)

Cheese and nuts and protein drinks get me through the day.

Sugar is bad for you.  You sound like you need a filling and nutritious breakfast and take chromium as a supplement.

If you are out and about then as a last resort those glucose sweets can be handy in the handbag to pop in the mouth but only as an exception.

When I've felt like this in the past, I know that I am burning out. You might have been away for a little while but you might still be burnt out. Listen to your instincts as they are little messengers telling us what is going on deep inside the self! We sometimes think we know and understand all that makes us tick, but we are very complex and sometimes need a signal telling us to take a break or make some sort of change.
