What to tell my childminder my job is??
« on: 22 October 2017, 09:28:17 am »
So I'm looking at getting back to escorting, meeting a potential childminder today off an trusted site.

I've advertised my working hours to her as 12 noon to 12 pm ; Just not sure what to tell her I do for work? because sometimes they ask and theyre odd hours..

wedding photographer, bridal makeup artist?

Baring in mind I'm only 24 and I've told her I would only need her 2 weekends a month as the charhes are quite high

Any advice appreciated x

Tell her you work in a police station.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

photographer would be a good one.

hopefully she doesnt ask how you advertise.

if she does you could say well I'm actually part of a team.

Contract banqueting staff (waitressing at large events and functions)... Odd shifts, generally at short notice, long shifts and tend to finish late. Can get sent home early or asked to stay later during these types of shifts too so won't raise too many questions if you finish early one night or stay late the next.

Make-up artist/beautican good one aswell. Look of make-up artists call to people homes.

You have clients for years. You dont advertise.

People get you to teach them how to apply make-up and latest trends.

business woman want to know how to quickly apply make-up for work.

You work for a catering company. They serve weddings, parties, events and it's silly hours. She's taking care of your child and that's all she needs to know.

Agree make it quite vague, they don't care they just need to know when you are going and when you will be back.

"Oncall" manager for catering company. May cover odd times you are called out "for emergencies".

Why do you need to tell her anything at all.  if she does not ask do not tell her.

Because you don't want to have your babysitter wondering and spreading any sort of gossip, specially if you have any problem with her along the way, you have to fire you or the grapes go sour. You don't want her to spread gossip nor have any sorts of ammunition against you.

Personally I would avoid telling them any job where they could ask your advice or may be pertinent to themselves or generally us girls. So that would rule out things like make-up artist, beautician etc.
Depending on how glam you are, you could say you do shift work in a warehouse as a supervisor/manager or at a level where one can afford the services of a child minder. I know a lot of ordinary Polish women do warehouse work (10 to 12 hour shifts), and the child minder is unlikely to ask you anything about a job like this.

Don't tell her you do anything you don't know how to do. EG bridal makeup they might end up asking to hire you for a friend's wedding!! I'd stick with something dull like shift supervisor for a commercial launderers or night switchboard operator for a hotel chain.
And me, I am not a mess, I am a wilderness, yes

So a therapist and make up artist that works from midday to midnight.  Yep makes sense.  If you are working weekends just tell her you are a waitress or a bartender.
