Seeking information on attack in London last May
« on: 19 October 2017, 12:04:50 pm »
Hello,

I?m part of a team of journalists investigating the arrest of a man in London, EC2 on suspicion of rape in late May 2017. The victim was a sex worker. The suspect is wealthy and powerful, and managed to get a gagging order on another publication that was going report his arrest. City of London police dropped their investigation due to a lack of evidence.

I know it?s a long shot and a difficult topic, but I?d be extremely grateful to hear from anyone who might have information on the incident to help us confirm what happened. I would of course grant complete anonymity to anyone who gets in touch. I would also corroborate further details (eg. the exact location, where the man was from, etc.) after making contact.

I?m not allowed to offer a fee in exchange for your time, but can commit to being discrete in communications, sensitive and cautious with all information offered. You can reach me by email - polson@forbes.com, or encrypted chat on WhatsApp / iMessage / Telegram: 07834 169 804.

Our publication is Forbes, which reports on the wealth and business interests (and occasional bad behaviour) of some of the world?s richest people. A resulting story would most likely go on our website. Any questions or concerns, fire away here.

Best,
Parmy

Hiya,

I've been working in London for many years in the industry and haven't heard of anything you describe. Putting a message here is a bit like looking for a needle in a hay stack because you don't post any details. Stuff like was this an incall, an outcall, an agency? etc??? Was this a male sex worker, a female or a transexual? That would help us remember. Of course I understand that if the police dropped their investigation you can't really write about it on a public forum.

What I would reccomend you is to get in touch with NUM (National ugly mugs). That's were rapes and robberies get reported. If the sex worker in question reported it to ugly mugs then they should have all the info on their records.

Good luck,

ana

The OP has given enough detail for anybody who is aware of something having happened to recognise it, and she quite rightly is trying to avoid every nosy bastard under the sun from trying to get their beak in and poke about for a dig. If anybody does know anything and sees her post it could be some help, just as contacting NUM would.

If you have no recollection of ever hearing about an incident around the time and at the location given, then it's nothing to do with you and the above is all you need to know :).

Ana30 - To answer your question, we believe the victim was a white female, but that?s about all we know. No idea if this was incall, outcall, agency work. Thank you for the advice on National Ugly Mugs - we have reached out and they are fantastic but unfortunately did not have a record of the incident. Any suggestions for other groups to try?

Amy - You are right, and I am also withholding key details to make sure that if anyone does come forward I can corroborate we are talking to the right person.

Thanks in advance for any further help or advice.

CORRECTION: This was outcall. It took place in a hotel.

I remember this case. It's relatively easy to find online as the story behind the story - about the injuction was published in the Sun. If I remember correctly, the alleged perpetrator was said to have paid off the victim, leading her to drop the charges. It wasn't due to lack of evidence.
