New ITV Prison series
« on: 16 January 2018, 02:18:25 pm »
Hello everyone,

My name is Kim, I work for a television production company called Znak & Co.  You may not have heard of us before but the head of our company, Natalka Znak, was responsible for ITV hit shows such as I?m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Hell?s Kitchen and Love Island.

Now we are working on a potential new ITV series that sees British women who may have had brushes with the law, might be a bit rebellious, or perhaps they work in the sex industry, as they spend time in a real-life prison.

This series isn?t about working in the sex industry, but it may feature someone who does.  As part of this we may want to explore what it is like working in the sex industry, but it isn?t the sole focus of what we are doing.

Would you be up for the challenge of spending a couple of weeks inside a real-life prison alongside convicted inmates?

Anyone who wants to learn more should email casting@znaktv.com.

All information you give to us about yourself will be treated with the strictest of confidence and all conversations are no-obligation.

Thanks so much!

Kim

Could you please explain why you think the people here might have had 'brushes with the law' because they are sex workers? I cannot see how you're getting from 'prison' to 'may have worked in the sex industry'. And since when was 'being a bit rebellious' a suitable description for self employed adult women doing an ordinary job to support themselves and their families - this isn't the 1950s?

We work legally and legitimately and the closest most of us will have had been to the wrong side of the law is a parking ticket. Why would we be any more likely to be criminals than hairdressers, builders or car park attendants? I assume you're asking people who work in other sectors too - which ones?

You'll be planning to pay anyone who participates their normal hourly rate for the bookings they lose as a result, obviously. I'm sure not even ITV are optimistic enough to think that people earning a three figure sum per hour will be happy to just sack that off to help a random production company make money for free, especially when the premise sounds downright offensive. Did the prison folk not tell you that these 'convicted inmates' are ordinary people too?

Hello,

I don't think women who may have had brushes with the law must be sex workers.  I am referring to two groups/types of women here.  And the same goes for women who might be a bit rebellious.  I have included the widest description of the sort of women we are looking for, because a reader here may fall into one of the categories, or know someone who does.

I absolutely know and understand that many sex workers operate legally and legitimately.  Some of the women who we feature may have a criminal record, some may not.  Some may want to make changes to their lives and we hope that this experience could offer them an opportunity to do so.  For clarity, we are not solely featuring sex workers and nor is this series about working in the sex industry per se - one of the contributors in the series could work in the sex industry, but it might turn out that no one does.

Anyone who participates in the final programme will be covered for any loss of earnings.

Everyone who takes part in the series will do because they freely consent to do so - including the inmates of the prison in which we film.

We don't wish to cause offence.  Happy to answer any questions anyone may have here, or anyone who wants to know more can get in touch at casting@znaktv.com

Thanks

I have to agree with Amy here, I read "brushes with the law" and sex industry.
I have never had any "brushes with the law" in fact I was brought up by a police officer.
What I do is legal and I am proud of my business.

You may be thinking along the lines of streetwalkers or junkies who hoe for drug money but you need to really think about your wordings. You're offensive.

To be fair MS, wording like

junkies who hoe for drug money

doesn't exactly cover you in glory either. Anybody selling sex for any reason is not breaking the law by doing so whether the money is for buying crack or silly handbags :).

I find it mildly amusing that apparent researchers would like it acceptable to post on forums like this instead of doing their own leg work! Perhaps reading the replies here will enlighten them somewhat, fingers crossed! It?s sad really that sex work and criminal records still come up together so often. The media vilifies sex workers and then wants the same ladies to help making a documentary which will vilify further! Mind blowing! When will society understand that this is simply a job, we are actresses, mums, wife?s, accountants, pr consultants, fashionistas, counsellors and companions sometimes all in a single booking.  Out of the work environment a lot of ladies have had top careers and are in possession of degrees. I, for instance have two degrees, currently working on a third, held down a career for 20 years and raised a family and I?m not extraordinary in this line of work, in fact I?m very run of the mill! We are in this profession simply as anyone would be in a profession....... supply and demand!  It?s about time society stopped thinking we are all criminals and a series like this, in my opinion would only confirm societies view. Might be worth while doing proper research so as to find the type of person you?re looking for elsewhere.

^Anyone who participates in the final programme will be covered for any loss of earnings.^

So just to be clear, any person who interviews or participates in any legal operation [strike]althoughh god knows reality tv should be banned forthwith[/strike] will NOT be compensated unless they agree to ameliorate their factual views on sex work to align with your pop culture take in the "final"?
And me, I am not a mess, I am a wilderness, yes

Basically they want you to embarass yourself on national TV, out yourself, loose your clients, have your landlord know what your're up to and your kids laughed at in school in exchange of ...."covering your expenses".

WHERE DO I NEED TO SIGN PLEASE?

Nope you don't even get your expenses.  I read you get paid if you in final episode.  So they could have you appear on all episodes except final and not pay you a penny.

Who could refuse an offer like that? ::)
