What do you play music on?
« on: 07 February 2018, 09:04:04 am »
Hello,
What do you play your music on. I like to hide most of my stuff and leave just the things that i use during the booking. I work from hotels and want to keep luggage to a minimum. Whats the best way? Do you play on your phone, laptop or do you carry a music player. I tried on my work phone but it gets interrupted by incoming calls. On laptop i have other work related things saved so i keep it hidden. I am curious what others do.
Thank you

If you have the music on your phone and are not streaming it would you be able to put it on aeroplane mode
I'm not sure if an auto reply to calls and texts might stop them from interrupting if you are streaming. I couldn't find a good auto reply for iPhone but I've got a good one for Android if you need the link x

I have one of those Bluetooth speakers, I connect iPad/phone to it and play music through it.  I put m devices on do not disturb mode and hide them in room.  So if client does steal where the sounds coming from its only the speaker he steals and not my phone.

My speaker is a Betron, cheap version of a Alexa.

I shopped around and found the smallest cd player which sits in the corner of my room and that plays anything I am in the mood for during bookings. Nothing there to worry about if I leave the room for a couple of minutes.

An iPod Touch in a little speaker stand (only 20 quid from amazon, but pretty decent sound).

be careful with bluetooth etc, i had a blue tooth speaker to stream nice relaxing music and realised it comes up with 'my real life name's iphone' and is discoverable... one day a client was looking at their phone and was asking 'oh which type of phone do you have' and i got vv paranoid so be careful. Also do not disturb/plane mode is a lifesaver xxx

It's no bad thing - at least you haven't got anything there for them to nick!

When I've been in this situation I've always stuck Radio 3 on - it sounds like an odd idea, but there's very little talking and the music can be lovely even if I haven't got a clue what I'm listening to. Plus the background is very white, so it helps with lighting if the room's a bit dim with only the lamps on :).

I bring my Google Chromecast dongle with me, plug that into the hotel room TV, then cast my playlist from my phone to the TV.

However I'm thinking of buying either Google Home speaker and bringing that, or buying a Sonos speaker. I drive to all my tour destinations so I'm not too bothered about bringing extra luggage. I currently travel with a portable lighting rig, toaster oven, kettle, cooler box, LED manicure kit and about 400 towels :D

I usually use the TV for music or background noise. I've had BBC Parliament on before when I've wanted to catch up on politics and forgot to change it over, but it didn't cause a complaint.
