What do you tell people that you do for a living?
« on: 18 April 2012, 11:39:30 am »
I have been thinking about moving and working from my new home. Obviously I'd need to be very careful about what I'm doing and need to take into account the lease, landlord, the area, discretion, law etc. but could I ask for those girls who do work from home, how did you go about it and how do you find it?  Please pm me if you wish.

Many thanks

I do.

I only take people into the front room, no further. I have removed everything personal from the livingroom and bathroom. by that I mean stripped it right down. removed most trinkets, nothing with anything with my name on it (like cards or bills or notes or prescriptions in the medicine cabinate)

I give the postal code when a booking is made. I tell them that when they arrive in the area just before the appointment, to send me a text and I will give them the house number.

I'm lucky as my ex lives two blocks from me so I phone her, call her Tim, and I call her again when he leaves. There are locks on the two bedroom doors upstairs where the toilet is.

My neighbours on both sides are houses of students so they don't really bother noticing much - I also do massage from home so it's not a big deal. I do not have more than two people in one day and no more than three days a week.

Hiya when I first started as independent I worked from hotels and allways said 'I will never work from my own home' It's my place ect ect. But as time went on I hated the whole stay in you're room all day waiting for calls type of situation. It just was not the way I wanted to work. So I finally decided I would give it a try and have not looked back until just recently which I'll explain later.

I have loved inviting people into my home, it gives me a sense of being very much in control. Having a chat and a drink in my living room and then inviting them into the bedroom. I take my calls and just give them the postcode road name until I know for a fact they are outside which I have had a friend of mine who is a taxi driver actually wait outside on occasions. Otherwise I always text my friend who just lives round the corner when I have an incall saying how long it is for and then give her a call or text her when I'm finished so she knows I'm okay. Once I forgot to text her after a went for a bath leaving my phone in the living room and she was knocking on my front door about half an hour later! Lol. Never give you're full address until you know they are actually there.
These days I am so sick of timewasters that I make every client use the AW system and book online and the feedback puts me more at ease. Even if they don't have an account it is so easy to make one and they can quite easily do it using a fake email address so the excuses such as 'I don't know how to do it' or 'I don't think it's safe' don't wash with me. I really do believe that this works as when I ask them to do it and then if they say 'yeah sure I'll do it now' and an hour later they still haven't and I'm calling them with no answer and leave them a message saying they are now saved as a Timewaster it has saved me from a 'no show'. This has been working well for me. I never see ore than two clients a day, alot of the time just one about 3-4 days a week. I get outcalls too so I make up for it there.

More recently I have wanted to keep things even more private and so I am looking at paying someone for the day to work from their home. But I don't have any regrets and if you're comfortable with it and do all you're security checks ect I'd say go for it!

Good Luck x

I work from home and it is perfect for me.

I ALWAYS keep the living room door shut and the TV on regardless of if my partner is actually in there or not, every client who walks through my front door sees that the door is shut and there is some sound coming from that room, it hasn't spooked any of them but it makes me feel much more confident and in control when the client is under the impression that someone MIGHT be in there (and sometimes, my partner is in there). There is only 1 exception to this and that is for all day/overnight bookings, it would be impossible to do 6-10 hours using just the bedroom.

I don't give out my flat number until they are outside.

Being in a flat gives me a huge advantage, the only neighbour who would possibly know how many visitors I have in a day or a week is the neighbour directly oposite me, and they are usually at work.

I only work from hotels when I'm on tour but nothing beats the comfort of your own home in my opinion :)
..Some would say I am selling my body but I know I am selling so much more than that..

ooooh I WISH I was brave enough to take incalls here...but it's local authority and my 'long-term' home and I can't risk it...emotionally I couldn't bear it if I lost this place!

all kudos to the ladies who entertain at home - I hope I can be doing the same one day! :)

Smiles.

I have been thinking about moving and working from my new home and need to take into account ....discretion
Ten minutes ago I had a phone call from a neighbour, about my Whoring.
She was phoning from work and a colleague had been talking about need extra money
and was thinking about escorting. Would I chat with them?
I did and referred them to SAAFE's main board as a starting point
re: research and decisions on if this was what they really wanted to do.

Sometimes neighbours are totally cool on these things.  :)

Nice one  It's great when you come across people like that in everyday life:D

I wish the neighbours where I live at the moment were as liberated as that.  I know they aren't though, as I remember one of them letting it slip months ago that 2 girls used to work from my apartment and they had them removed.  >:(  I did wonder if they had the girls removed purely on what they were doing, or whether the neighbours were kept up at night with all the shagging, as the walls are paper thin here.  I can hear upstairs going to the loo which isn't pleasent. :-X :)

Ok!  I'm trawling the internet for decent places to rent that tick all the boxes on my list.  I've found several that tick 8 out of 10, but there maybe a problem with these.  All of them have 24 hour concierge.  The apartment blocks are very big so there should be a fair bit of traffic, but my concern is will this put potential clients off?  I wouldn't want a guy to turn up and panic if there is a manned lobby or worse still if the concierge decides to ask him what he's there for.
I'll probably view the properties and see if the concierge is nosy or if a guy is able to enter the building through a side door, but everything else so far falls short on my list.  STRESS!!! lol.

Depends on the client.
Some will freak some won't.

The point is a concierge is another potential barrier to a client getting to get to your door.
Find somewhere without a concierge, IMO.

Most of my clients visit me at my discreet flat which i am lucky to own. I have a drunk neighbour who  is aware but cant say much  at all as he is in arrears and dosnt want to bring attention to himself!  and they guy living upstairs is a very good mate  who looks out for me. best i dont move home !!!! i just give the postcode out and when they arrive i can guide them where to park. I do like hotel outcalls though for the change of scenery.

The concierge could be a problem eventually because they are security and have to be vigilant on who comes into the building and where they are going. If you become very popular they could start getting suspicious and start asking questions.
Hello nice to meet you :)

I work from home and it's fine, although I avoid working too late at night. I would recommend living in a house, rather than an apartment, because apartments can be very close together and concierges can pose a problem  :-\ I have been working from home for four years now, and it's very convenient.
