Magnum Escorts don’t claim to be an escort agency, they say they’re an escort advertising site, which is true. They don’t make many claims at all, preferring to leave it up to your imagination, there are a few though. When I searched for “escort agency” on google, their ad tried to entice me with promises of finding work as an escort and unlimited earning potential. The bit about finding work probably won’t happen, and unlimited earning potential doesn’t really mean anything.

Here’s an excerpt from their FAQ:

How many bookings can I expect to get?

There are no guarantees as to how many bookings you may get. We would like our escorts to have at least one booking per week to  start of with. Our aggressive advertising campaign, both online and in newspapers, is intended to attract more than enough members for us to expect these levels of bookings for our escorts.

No guarantees, but they’d like you to have at least one booking per week. Well, I’d like you to have your very own rocket ship and a pony, but that doesn’t mean you should give me money.

Oh, but that bit about their aggressive advertising campaign is a lie. I’m not going to go searching newspapers for their ads, but I did search google.

I first found Magnum Escorts when I searched for ‘escort agency’ and their ad came up in the sidebar. It said, “Find Work as an Escort. Publish your online profile now. Unlimited earning potential!”. Note that my query is the sort of thing I’d enter if I was looking to book an escort, but they’re more interested in signing me up to work. And why not? I have to pay to advertise with them, but if I just want to book an escort they don’t get any money.

I searched for some more terms I might use if I was looking to book an escort. ‘UK escorts’, ‘male escorts’ and ‘female escorts’. Magnum Escorts didn’t appear either in the ads or the first 30 search results for any of these terms.

Then I searched for ‘”Magnum Escorts”‘, to see what references to them I could find on the web. The only results in the first 40 that had anything to do with magnumescorts.com were pages from their own site, several ads on ukclassifieds.com which no longer exist, and one article warning about scams. I can’t speak for their newspaper campaign, but their online campaign is severely lacking in aggression at the time of writing.

If you want to be an escort read this, and don’t give money to just anyone who says they can find you work.

Prompted by the story of a man who signed up with Elegance 4 Her (www.elegance4her.com) and Male Recruitment (www.malerecruitment.com) but only ever received bookings that were canceled at the last minute, BBC Wales investigates. There are a lot of scams like this out there. Please read this and don’t believe everything you’re told (yes, that includes here, do your research!)

If you’re not convinced, look at the many similarities between charmingemployment.co.uk and networkescorts.co.uk. Then, if you think that Network Escorts might have copied Charming Escorts, have a look at Network Escorts’ archive on the WayBack Machine (starting in June 2005) and consider that Charming Escorts only registered their domain in February of 2008.

For future reference, anyone who tells you that you can make a living as a straight male escort is almost certainly lying. Read this article on SW5, and maybe this one on SAAFE, too.
